1.) A good buy

I bought this phone for my dad whose sight is declining. The big buttons and caller id display are better suited to his needs than the existing caller id phone I use. However, I wish I had known before I bought the phone that it required 3 AA batteries and an AC adapter which were not included. I would still have purchased the phone, but at least I would have known that these should be purchased separately, esp. the adapter.
2.) Good Cheap Phone

This is a very cheap phone. Works okay. You get what you pay for.
3.) Needs considerable improvement!

I bought this phone last year. It's hard to find land-line phones anymore with decent features and quality production and design. This phone is an example of having many features but surrounded by poor design and cheap (pejorative) quality. Here are my complaints:
1) The phone is made of plastic that is cheap and TOO LIGHT. It is so light that it is easily pulled off the desk and falls on the floor when you quickly grab the handset. One workaround is to by a 25-foot extension cord, but you still need to be careful.
1a) The light (i.e., cheap) plastic causes the handset to creak in your hand. This is picked up by the microphone and interferes with your conversation.
2) The display is set at an angle that no matter where you set the contrast (1-5) it is not easy to read if it is on your desk and you are sitting at your desk. I have to lean way over the display to read it. You cannot change the display's viewing angle.
3) The "date stamp" is in a European format (i.e., dd/mm) which can be confusing. You can not change the format to an American format of mm/dd.
4) The speaker, handset and ringer volumes are all too soft even when set to maximum. (If you are hard of hearing you may have noticeable trouble having a conversation on this phone.)
5) Microphone for the speakerphone is positioned near the underside of the phone (close to the surface of the desk), rather than up on the top where your mouth is normally going to be positioned! Callers at the other end will complain that they can't hear you.
The only thing that I liked about this phone is that it has a "Hold" button, which many companies no longer include on their phones (e.g., GE phones).
All of these deficiencies should be corrected. If they were, I'd be willing to pay $20-$25 more for a phone like this.
If JWIN corrected all of these deficiencies AND had illuminated buttons and a backlit display that lit up when calls came in, or when I picked up the phone, I would be willing to pay $25-$35 more for this phone.
4.) PIECE OF JUNK
