We are very pleased with our DECT 6.0 Pansonic Phones. The range is great. It works well with the Pansonic headset. I LOVE being able to block calls that I do not want to receive. (You know the 1-800-000-000 numbers. That you know are going to be tele marketing.) I like that the phone can be an alarm clock. The storage for phone numbers is nice to have. I am sure that as I use this phone I will begin to use even more of its features. The instructions are great.

I just got my phone yesterday. I have yet explored all the features, but what I have seen is very helpful.
1. Battery life indicator. It has light indicator, which shows phone need charging. I noticed it before the first time charge. After the complete charge, it went away.
It also has number indicator right next to battery icon, e.g. 3, 2, 1, showing how much battery left.
When it completely charged, it display ready to use. A feature that is very good to have to prevent keep putting the phone on the charger.
2. Audio caller id. When the first call received after the handset was fully charged, my son was surprised by the sound. First, it sound of the phone number. Then I saved bunch of phone numbers in the phonebook, and now when a call arrives, it says the name from the phone book. Also, allow different phone rings for each number in the phone book. A good features to have.
3. Call block, which I have not yet used.
4. Answering machine was easy to setup. Just push On. Also, allow you to listen and delete the messages from each handset. A feature that is good to have.
Not so good feature is that use of Menu to access intercom. I have old AT&T phone, which has Intercom button on it. Once pressed, select a handset number 1 through 4. This phone requires you to go to Menu, scroll to intercom, and push tiny button to select a handset number. Not bad, but it could have been easier.
I am sure there are many other features that I have not yet explored.

We have had this phone system for about a month and are thrilled with it. The high points are the answering system that can be accessed by any handset, the shared phone book, and the talking caller id. The only downsides are that the talking caller id can be a little hard to understand sometimes and we wish the phone book held more than 50 numbers. Overall you can't deny that this phone system works great.

This is an excellent product. I researched all the reviews and I have owned Panasonic before. I was wary there was no "mute" button on the handsets, but was assured by the specs on the Panasonic website that it had this feature. So I ordered it. In short, it has everything I wanted. The mute button on the handset is not a dedicated button, but one that appears only when you start a call (part of the "dynamic" three buttons at the top). It works just fine. The range is so much better than my older VTech. I love that it uses standard AAA rechargeable batteries. It has an amazing feature that deals seamlessly with the dialing "1" outside your area code (in the US) so I never have to dial a "1" anymore (works just like a cellphone). Also, when callers call in, it "learns" how to remove the 1-(area code) prefix so you can return their calls. Love that it has a good quality speakerphone on the base station! This was a must have feature for me (especially a mute button, as I'm on a lot of conference calls). My headset fits nicely into the handset jacks. The sound quality is great and battery charge lasts a long long time! The self announcing caller id feature was not on my list of needs, but now that I have, we love it! Of course it has wierd pronounciations for more obscure names, but it's still great (and you can turn it off of course). Love the great big display. Love that it displays the date and time in large bold letters (so that it's like another clock in the room!) In fact, it even has an alarm clock feature (which I haven't used yet). The numbers are easy to push and see, and the handset feels comfortable and solid. I don't use the answering machine at all, but it handles nicely my phone company voicemail with a nice indicator! It is as close to flawless as you can get from a product. And at a steal of a price. Bravo.

Owned a Panasonic phone and was very happy with voice quality, talking caller ID (although the voice/pronunciation was not the clearest thing to understand) and the ease of use of the features. Problem was it was just one cordless phone and we needed at least a couple more. Saw and got this at Amazon for a great price and couldn't be happier.
Everything our old Panasonic phone had but better... better voice quality, much better talking caller ID (now in the handsets, not just the base), better hand set range, better display, better keys (and they light up now), clearer message recording... plus call blocking (good feature), programming from any set, silent mode, and more. Just remember that caller IDs take about 3 seconds to come through on a call, so talking caller ID, special rings based on caller ID or call blocking will kick in after one ring.
Very happy with these phones and would definitely recommend to a friend.

The four handsets allow for great added convenience around the house & outside. The clarity is great and the call blocking feature is a bonus. I also appreciate the fact that the batteries are standard size available almost anywhere, not some exotic bundle of batteries available only from Radio Shack or electronics supplier. If you are in a hurry, please go to the second paragraph. I am a very old solid oak crank phone made by a company some of you may never have heard about: Western Electric. I am about 100 years old and still work quite well. My crank has no use now since all the phones are driven by electricity and don't need a crank. If you call me, however, you will hear a clear and strong voice on the other end.
The old folks who bought me from a few years ago decided it was time to go first class and bought a DECT 6.0 and talk about a change. With me you are limited to the length of my cord when talking to another person. With DECT you have the entire lot and then some without a cord. The voice quality is superb even when the wireless router is going full steam. They had 2.4Gz phones and when connected to the internet via the router there was a major degradation of quality. Not now.
Every feature mentioned in the advertisement works well and quite useful. Best of all is the caller block. After a few minutes of button punching unwanted callers are no longer visiting over the telephone. (Editorial comment: As a nation we were inundated with a so called "Do Not Call" list. Few will say it works well but then again what else associated with the government works well. We have to renew our do not call status and we keep getting calls from folks who we do not want to hear from but now and with this feature those callers can be cut off once and for all. Or until they find a way to circumvent the technology or get the government to grant them access.)
Bottom line: a tad pricey but worth every penny. If it will last then it will be a fantastic buy.

No complaints with this phone. Reception is good, features are worth it and build is solid. I have no "white" noise issues that others are talking about. This phone is built stronger than the uniden we had. The talking caller ID is what makes this phone. The phone book feature only requires you to enter name and number on one handset and it automatically transfers information to other sets. The talking feature will speak what ever name you store in the phone book or it will speaker telco information. We also like the fact that it uses "AAA" rechargeable batteries. This allows you to always have a spare charged set of batteries....we have another battery charger. Sound quality and range between unts are both very good. You can listen to answering machine messages from either the base unit, or any individual phone. All phones use a common "phone book" which is handy. The "talking" caller ID is mediocre, not pronouncing names very well; more of a "gimmic" than being very useful.

I purchased the KX-TG6444T on 12/7/2009 after reading the description and features given on Amazon.com. The product arrived in four or five days as promised. I found the installation instructions very easy to follow, so I experienced no difficulty in that department. I like the idea of each extension announcing the caller so that I can decide wither or not I need to take the call. It's like having a receptionist screening calls for me. I like that. As far as durability goes, this is a well made phone. It is very solid but not too heavy. There is no problen reading the screen at any time, day or night on this phone. Every thing is in large bold characters and easy to read.
However, here are a couple of things I wished were different for my purposes:
1) I was expecting the wall mount to be of a different type(flush against the fall). This phone stands straight up in the wall mount as if it's on a flat horizontal surface like a table. The same way you would stand the extensions up in their holders. The Horizontal setup causes the phone to stick out a little too far from the wall for my liking. I guess I did not pay close enough attention to the discription before ordering it. Technically, this phone works fine in the horizontal position if you have a very open, low-trafic area in which to install it. My wall of choice just does not offer that luxury. In any case it worked out fine for me because I was able to set it up on a desk that is close-by. So I'm not too stressed.
2) The other thing taht I was not crazy about, was its inability to display the caller ID record when you pick-up an extension while someone else is using another. In other words, if a call comes in, only the extension that initially answers the call has access to the caller ID information during that call. That does not work well for me, because I like to see who called even if some one else gets to an extension before I do.
All that said.
I would recommend this phone in a minute.

The Panasonic Dect 6.0 phones are good - with one serious exception - their call blocking.
I purchased this phone for its call blocking feature. Although it works, it still rings the phone (once), and then sends a busy signal back to the caller. This is unacceptable since the caller, or the automated dialer the caller is using, thinks there is someone on the phone and keeps calling back. This makes their call blocking feature worse than if the call came through. Rather than a Busy signal, the panasonic phone system should not ring at all for blocked calls. Instead, it should send a message such as "We are sorry but this party does not accept unidentified callers or has otherwise blocked the receipt of this call" and then hang up.
Otherwise, the rest of the phone's features work well.

I'll start off with what I do like... I love the talking caller ID feature. I was able to progran my mother-in-law's phone number with the title "Grandma". Now when she calls, the caller ID says "Call from Grandma" and my kids can answer it. :) That is nice! Now they know when they can or can't answer the phone. If it says Uncle Tom, Grandma, Daddy, etc... they can answer it. LOVE that feature for this reason only... the kids!
What I don't like. The Speaker phone feature on each handset is too quiet. Even in the loudest setting, it's very quiet. The range on these phones isn't great either. I could walk down to my mailbox with my old phones and get a crystal clear signal, not so with the panasonic ones. The range cuts out at about 30 feet from the base station. Not good when I'm in the garage or out gardening. I'd say if you are hard of hearing and like speakerphones, don't buy this. Or if you have a large home and/or large property and expect to be able to talk freely while more than 30ft away, don't buy this.
All in all, I am happy with this system. I am putting one of the handsets in the garage just so I can use the phone while outside. Not what I wanted to do, but it will work this way as I need it to.

I also like that there are message lights on all the handsets so you know if you have messages, even if you're not at the base unit.
The handsets seem cheap, though -- they're very lightweight.
The sound quality isn't as good -- lots of people tell me they can't hear me.

The phone functions well but it is a pain not to be able to delete all old caller ID numbers at one time. You have to delete each one seperately. This is a three step process for each deletion. Our old AT&T phone just asked did we want to delete all - press yes and Voila! The Panasonic has good sound quality and we haven't had any problems with distance from the base unit- so overall I am rating it OK for the price.
56.) Would Be A Great Phone If It had Speed Dial
Reviewed by: Replica Cleveland, OH
Rating:
The Panasonic KX-TG6444T Phone System has good sound quality but some flaws.
The biggest problem with the phone is the lack of speed dial. Most people have a few numbers that they call frequently. While it is not difficult to navigate through the contacts to find who you want to call, it takes 3 or more key presses when only one would have been necessary if it had speed dial. This is a major inconvenience, but it is also a feature that is lacking on many competing phones.
The sound quality of the phone is excellent. The volume is a little quite but this is usually not a problem unless you have background noise. We have been able to use the phone everywhere in the house and just outside with no sound degradation. The sound quality of recordings on the answering machine is below average, and this is another feature that could be easier to use. The phone will say system busy, if you try to make a call immediately after using the answering system, but hanging up and trying again will eventually work.
The phone system works well when you are on a call, which is the most important aspect. If Panasonic improved the usability, this would be a great phone. Still I would place it on par or slightly above most competitors.
57.) Picked these because Panasonic is a Great Brand!

Bought these phones to have caller ID. We had an old Panasonic phone that was still working after 12 years, but my youngest child broke off the atenna, so lots of static and I could not get too far away from the base. Love the Panasonic brand of phones and so bought these. Lots and Lots of options with these phones. Like them fine, but the sound quality of the person on the end of the line is not as good as I am used to. I have the volume turned up all the way and I still have a hard time hearing the person talking to me. Kind of dissapointing actually. Everything else is great though. The phones tell you who is calling, when it is time to charge them, they ring loudly enough also. If you are hard of hearing these phones are probably not for you if you want to catch everthing the person you are talking with says.

I bought the phone based on all the positive reviews here. My son dumped the base unit and a handset in the sink; I dried both out. The base unit recovered but the handset screen turned blank (though it still works). It would seem to be relatively straightforward to design these to be waterproof.
59.) Pain in the rear

After reading a lot of reviews on this phone and other Panasonic phones I gave it try. Boy was it a mistake, a hundred dollar mistake! There's a two second delay before the phone connects after you press the talk button to answer the call. That's if you're answering it on the main phone. Nine out of ten times the extention phones will not connect even if you keep pressing the talk button. I have figured out that if you press the off button if it doesn't connect and than press the talk button again it will connect, what a pain. People on the other end say they here a click when you first answer but there is a delay before they can hear you. Never could get the talking caller ID to actually talk. The sound quality, battery life and just about everything else with this phone is fine but trying to answer a call makes it a zero. My family keeps telling me that we to get new phones...
60.) Poor microphone in handset

I purchased a set of 4 of these phones October 2009. People started telling me to speak up, they couldn't hear or understand me very well. I tried holding the phone differently to try to speak more into the microphone. I couldn't find any adjustment of sensativity for the microphone. All handsets woked the same. Finally, 6 months later I bought AT&T dect 6.0 set of phones. I tried switching back and forth between the 2 different handsets and the person I was talking to said the volume and clarity were noticeably better with the AT&T phones.
61.) Forget the Speaker Phone

I got this phone specifically for the speakerphone. When talking on the speakerphone(both base and handset) my end sounded great. On the other end people were telling me that i was fading in and out - I then realized that i had the same fatal problem some of the other reviewers mentioned; and i had already tossed the box. I'm listing it on eBay now. One other item that i did not like was that when you had a message, it flashed a light; there was no beep. So unless you looked at the light, you did not realize that you had a call. I now have an ATT phone that so far seems good.
62.) Too many options, not enough simplicity.

The phone, because of all its options, should come with as many user manuals as the number of handsets provided. I had to make copies of the manual for each handset. There is no easy way to retrieve messages from the handset without knowing the specific code for listening to messages. And then there is a different code for deleting those messages. The system needs to be more user friendly.
I would not recommend this product to anyone else. Unfortunately, I am stuck with this unit for the next several years. Too bad it's too late to return.
63.) Call block reality doesn't meet marketing hype!!
Reviewed by: stedi73 Central Illinois, USA

I bought this phone for one reason and one reason only: call blocking. I was excited when I found Panasonic offered a phone with this feature as our previous Panasonic phone worked quite well (but no call blocking feature). This phone absolutely has call blocking. What Panasonic doesn't tell you upfront is that the phone will ring once before being blocked. That significant detail is buried in the specifics of the manual. Not so bad you might think? Not so. The blocking feature sends a busy signal back to the automated dialing system. The automated dialing system doing the calling instantly thinks "Ah-hah, someone home". It promptly schedules another call in 5 minutes. And so on every 5 minutes for about 40 minutes before finally giving up! I can't believe Panasonic is unaware of this. And if, as my wife noted, the phone needs time to process the caller ID information, I'd far rather it blocked the first ring of every call vs. this.
64.) It worked for 2 weeks

Initially these phones worked great. The reception and sound quality was superb, but after about two weeks they no longer work. The calls come thru, and the caller ID announces the caller, but I push talk and can't answer the call. For some reason, the phones will not pick up the caller. I had the lines checked by my provider (they're ok) and requested help from the manufacturer, but their suggestions didn't fix the problem. They offered to replace my new phones with refurbished ones. I'm very disappointed.
65.) Drops signal when as close as 10 feet, also has faint noise

Had high hopes, but this unit kept dropping calls or not allowing caller to hear us. Also, there was a faint warbling sound when using any of the handsets. The base was well away from major appliances. Panasonic warranty support was useless and recommended mindless troubleshooting ideas like: take out the batteries and put them back in, or unplug the base for 10 minutes. When I insisted that the whole set may be bad, they offered me a refurbished unit. At the time of the call, my phone was only a week old. New set for refurbished unit...I think not. Today I'm retuning it to Amazon within the 30 day return policy. It's a shame because I really liked the promise of some of the features and the overall high rating found when doing research.

Right out of the box I was worried. Everything was really light which I equated with cheaply made. Our biggest problem, and the reason we're returning it, is that the sound quality on the receiver's end was terrible. Several people told us they could barely hear us. We also disliked the menu. It was a pain in the neck to search the missed call list- way too many steps. We've had the Panasonic KX TG2400 for years and have been really happy with it. Great solid phone and excellent sound quality and good features. We're replacing only because they've been dropped or jumped on one too many times by our children. Do NOT buy this phone.
