1.) Excellent Phone System
Reviewed by: TLW Los Angeles

We purchased and received this cordless phone/answering system a week ago. So far, it has provided flawless operation. It was very easy to set up. Everything works as it should, with enough range on the handsets for our three story home with no noise or interference. The caller ID voice announcements are fun, although the name pronunciation on some callers is funny to hear (that feature can be turned off if it annoys you). We have not had any unexpected volume change problems as reported on some Panasonic cordless models. All in all, we are very pleased with this device.

2.) Very nice phone

Bought this phone to replace an 10 year old Panasonic model which was still working fine, but getting that well-worn appearance. I am very pleased with the phone's appearance and comfortable feel, plus it is easy to set up and use. Has all the features we need and the sound quality is great. The ringer can be set quite loud and is loud when on speaker phone too. I was so pleased, I bought another one for my 90 year old mother who has trouble hearing. The screen characters are large and the buttons are a nice size. I like well-designed products that work great, and this is definitely one of those.

3.) Panasonic, a Reliable Cordless Phone
Reviewed by: Dana49 New England

We have owned this, our second Panasonic cordless phone, for approximately one year. My wife and I felt that Panasonic's change in "cordless phone technology" made this a worthwhile upgrade. Since making this purchase, we've enjoyed the use of the new "Talking Caller ID." You no longer have to check the phone dial to see who's calling. Now, following the second ring, caller identification can be heard throughout your home. One other feature that we've also enjoyed is the ability to block unwanted calls. Once the caller's phone number has been entered into your blocked caller list, all the caller will hear is a busy signal. Searching for a new cordless phone can be a tedious task. Stop here and be assured that this will be a good purchase.

I closed a business and wanted to downsize from the clunky 4 line phone I used for years. This refurbished Panasonic turned out to be perfect. It has all the normal phone features, speed dial, voice mail, memory etc, plus the ability to just plug into any outlet in the house and have an extension. No need to run phone jacks. I have used Panasonic phones for 20 years and they have proved to be amazingly reliable. I have no doubt this one will do likewise. PS the whole system cost $40.00 + shipping.

I couldn't make up my mind whether to buy this phone for months; the negative reviews (difficult manual, poor sound quality) worried me. If you're on the fence as I was, go ahead & order it. It's a very good phone at a reasonable price. If you do the following I'll bet you'll be satisfied: 1. Unpack it, insert batteries, plug base unit & charger unit into electric outlets. Don't connect the phone line yet; keep using your old phone & allow the handsets to charge the required 7 hours. Do not read ahead in the manual; it will only scare you! 2. Connect the phone line to the base unit & sit down with it, the handset from that unit, & the manual. Go through the manual page by page, playing around with each feature to learn how it works. Call your landline # from your cell phone to try out caller ID & the answering machine. 3. The first time you answer the phone or make an outgoing call, turn the volume on the handset down to the middle setting. The sound quality out of the box was terrible, which several reviewers mentioned, but it's because of the volume setting, not a problem with the phone. The default setting is "high." As soon as I set it to the middle volume level, the sound quality was absolutely fine!

About the phonebook: It alphabetizes by the first letter entered, so unless you want to alphabetize people by their first names, you have to enter names with the last name first. You can put as many names with the same first letter in as you wish, contrary to what one review stated.

About the call block feature: I didn't care about this feature when I ordered the phone but I love it! Since the "do not call" legislation has tons of loopholes we are still bothered by too many calls we don't want, & now when I get one of those I just add the number to my blocked list. The phone still gives half a ring while it is identifying the number & then it just disconnects.

I have only three complaints, none of which is bad enough to make me not recommend this phone. The first is it is hard to hold the handset against my ear with my shoulder because of the shape. It tapers in thickness toward the top so it wants to slide down. The second is all those 3-digit feature codes - surely the Panasonic programmers could have made this phone completely menu-driven! Luckily most of the commonly-used features are menu-driven. The third is that the talking caller ID doesn't start until after the 2nd ring. I wish it would start as soon as it identifies the number.

I really like my new phone & I'm so glad I bought it!

I was a little nervous getting a refurb, but this phone came in new condition, I never would have guessed it a refurb. It's very easy to use. I love the talking caller ID. Would be nice if it talked at every ring, but it only does for 2 of 4 rings, but that's really ok, minor thing. The user interface is so easy I haven't had to look in the manual yet to get things set up or use the features. I had to give up my ATT cordless due to wireless internet interferance, have no issues at all with this one. In short, highly recommend.

I bought these phones for a two story home. Out of the box they look amazing, and are very comfortable.

I first hooked up the main base on the ground level of the home. Setting up the phone was very easy. The features that really stood out were a phone book with customizable ringers for different callers. I typed in my name and cell phone number to test out the caller ID voice. I was shocked when it came back clear as day with my name. This phone has very deep customization on the level of a modern cell phone.

Next I hooked up the other base upstairs, and was shocked again that the smaller base didn't need a phone line. It receives signals right from the home base flawlessly. I went downstairs to get my list of phone numbers to input into the second phone. When I came back I was amazed that every number and time and date had uploaded into the second deck on its own. Easily the best home cordless phone I've ever used!

We replaced our old phones with these after much research. We have been very pleased with our choice. The phones have excellent voice quality, have a jack that allows you to use a headset, and are light weight. The phone book feature is simple to program and use and when you enter a number in one handset it is automatically entered into the other handset-an improvement over our old set. The one minor drawback is that the buttons for the menu, phone book, and redial blend right into the face of the phone. I would buy this set again in a heartbeat.

This is the third Panasonic cordless phone we have owned over the last 10 years. Our last one had the features and such excellant sound quality that my sister wanted it... so we went back to Panasonic to purchase the latest version. Key feature: We really like the mutliple handsets. We use them as paging/intercoms through-out the house and yard. We have added extra handsets after purchasing the double handset (TG6432M) from Amazon and finding the quality and ease of use excellant. We have one in the basement/family room, the main kitchen area, the upstairs master bedroom and one even for the back deck/patio area! All can easily call another, share a phone directory and access the digital answering machine. The display is very easy to read and use. I also use the handset on conference calls for business, normaly in speaker mode. There is no distortion or feedback, and the other parties can hear me loud and clear!

If we have any griefs, it would be that the base unit should have an LCD number read-out for the number of messages... but, this information can be found clearly on the handset. My wife likes the caller voice announcement feature... I find it a little annoying. Of course you can turn this feature on or off. The digital messages are clear and easily understood, but have the slight mechanical sound produced by typical digital recordings.

The unit has a quality feel and the buttons are very responsive... no double hit errors or the need for excessive pressure to get a button to work. The display is bright, clear and easy to navigate, more so than our previous model. The buttons also illuminate and can be used dark.

We have tried many other phones over the years. We used to really like AT&T... but they have become unreliable (buttons not working, short battery life); had a Sony, but the sound was poor and the handset display died; we tried a cordless Uniden and it just had numerous quality issues - sound and feel was terrible; and we even had a multiple handset from Sharper Image (not sure who really mfg'ed it... I think it was Uniden) and the sound quality was VERY bad and if you used multiple handsets, the reciever got tons of distortion. This new Panasonic (and our previous) set are simply a great quality purchase...

If this last as long as our last two models, we will have MANY years of good service! It is easy to say, we will continue to be return customers for Panasonic.

I did a lot of research before I bought these phones. A LOT of research. The main thing I was looking for was range. I wanted to be able to go clear to the far corner of our garden, roughly 250 feet away. No problem, and it had to go through a shed as well! That garden is our large one. The phones allowed me to reach the far end of the small garden too ----through several walls of the house.
Battery life is extraordinary. To make this even better, the batteries are rechargeable AA's...or was it AAA. When they finally give out on you, you can easily replace them.
The talking caller ID is great but if you don't like it you can turn it off. These phones are alarm clocks too.
We discovered something just yesterday that is awesome... the phones are an intercom. This means that my hubby and I can call and TALK with each other from distant areas of our property.
On the downside, I haven't learned the different codes to do things and have to keep the instruction manual handy but let me tell you..this is minor compared to how great these phones are.
Did I mention that the sound is crystal clear even far away from the base? I don't think you can go wrong with these phones!
By the way, I bought these at a great price from Amazon. The service was excellent.

I put one in the living room and one in the den. You can easily program the phones so that you can start talking when you receive a call as soon as you take the phones out of the chargers, without having to press any buttons. The answering device also works well, has a nice appearance, and is easy to use. Be sure to read the instruction manual carefully; it tells you everything you need to know. After considerable research, I purchased this phone 2 weeks ago and it has not disappointed. The display is large enough to read without my reading glasses, the sound quality is great (no interference from the microwave or my ATT UVerse box), the battery life is good (AA rechargeables so no problem when they need replacement), the range is decent and the ability to assign ring tones to groups of people or to individuals in the phone book means no need to even see the phone to know who's calling. The answering machine works well and remote access is simple.

"Programming" this phone is not exactly intuitive and the manual is an absolute necessity so don't lose it!

I bought the Panasonic TG6432 to replace another Panasonic cordless that was over 15-years old. I've had the new unit for about a month and, to date, it has performed marvelously. On the upside, the packaging was minimal to save resources. Instructions were easily understood and well documented. The sound quality is excellent, even from about 100' to 150' away from the base unit and through several walls. Other buyers may have experienced wavering, undulating sound; I have not. The set up easy; I did it in less than five minutes. The only downside I have identified is that the slightly angular top of the phone that rests on one's ear. A call that lasts longer than 10 minutes may become uncomfortable.

Has excellent range in my two story townhouse. Battery charge lasts a surprisingly long time. Love that I can now retrieve my messages on the second handset, without having to traipse upstairs like with the old answering machine.

I am one of those "older persons" with little technical ability, but I can use this phone easily. The large printouts are great and the buttons are comfortable. The message voice is easy to understand.

I got this last week. I had a previous Panasonic model for about 4 years which I actually like better. There were less steps to delete the call log, and instead of repeatedly deleting the same number (if that person called multiple times), on my old model I'd just hit "delete" once and they'd all clear. On this model you have to press a button to get to the call log, then another button to delete the number, then another button to "OK" it. Just a small hassle - otherwise the sound is good. I don't need the caller recognition feature (an automated female voice announces the caller's name while the phone is ringing: "Call from XXX" ).

One plus was that it works on 900 MHz instead of 2.4 GHz where my bluetooth, wireless router and microwave oven all play.

After having this product for 6 to 8 mos now, I've come to a conclusion--its not worth it. I "bought" myself a little time by switching batteries, thinking that was the problem. This phone has many great features, but trying to get the satellite handset to work is just hopeless.

I've toyed w/changing batteries, I've had to re-establish the link between the handset and the cradle numerous times. The manual is hardly a picnic. You'll probably only use a couple features of the dozens of features this phone offers.

And you'll get to wade through a very extensive and frustrating manual to do so. And you'll have extra "quality" time with the manual, as the satellite malfunctions so regularly, I don't even count on it anymore. This is what I paid over ninety dollars for? The phone on the main base almost always works well, but I paid for the convenience of a second handset, something that has been denied me.

I kept thinking that somehow it was a great phone, kept assuming it was my fault--maybe I didnt have the phone sitting in the handset properly. Maybe it just needed a new set of rechargeable batteries.

Maybe it was bumped by my pets, and didn't sit on the cradle correctly. I have adjusted for all possible errors, putting in different sets of batteries, hiding the phone in a "cubbyhole" that my cats can't get to.

This morning, it showed the battery was fully charged, now, some 6 hours later, again, it shows the battery is mostly drained, and I haven't even used the handset(I really never use it, there's such a high chance of it losing all power and "hanging" up on the other party.) Up and down like this. What a piece of junk.

Yes, I could fight for what I paid for. And Panasonic could easily keep my head spinning with all kinds of games to avoid their responsibility. This is clearly not a company committed to quality. I've already overpaid for what I got, now I should let them destroy my peace of mind with their idiotic customer service?

I've just realized that I've almost never enjoyed the use of the second handset. I've never trusted it. Thanks, Panasonic, for another crummy product, there aren't near enough badly made things already?

It has failed thoroughly. I do not wish to be jerked around by some creep in customer service, nor do I wish to study the manual anymore. I do not want to study the manual, nor conduct further tests to see what is wrong. I'll never go with Panasonic again.

This is simply a lousy phone. If I use the satellite handset, I call someone, and it rings once, then the phone dies. Its so common, that people who know me automatically assume that if they get one ring, then what appears to be a hang-up, it must be me.

The notion of using off-the-shelf batteries is an appealing one, too bad Panasonic couldn't make it work. I paid well for a phone with all the bells and whistles, got very little for my money.

I'd recommend buying a much simpler, cheaper phone from another manufacturer. It may not have all the "features" (such as non-functioning second handset) as this one. Do you really want to play with a manual that'll make you cry?
And do you really want to pay for extra handsets, that don't even work?
----------------------------------------------------
After trying every conceivable fix, swapping batteries, swapping handsets with cradles, I am at my wits end. Tonight, as my final attempt, I switched handsets. I didn't need to consult the very complicated manual, I have the obscure code memorized, the code you must enter to make each handset register with the base.
This is necessary each time you swap handsets on different cradles.
-----------------------
Tonight, I got the biggest whammy yet. I thought I'd traced the problem to the handset. I'm forever getting 3 bars(fully charged), then on calling out, suddenly it collapses to one bar(low charge). When trying to call out, it rings once, then dies.
----------------------------
My final attempt at salvaging this junk--I swapped the batteries between the handsets. Now both handsets read that the battery is low, even though, just moments before the swap, one set read "fully charged".
Now, for a few hours, I hope I won't need a phone--because I don't have one!
----------------------------------------
This phone is far too dangerous, should you have any kind of emergency, medical or otherwise. I've assumed every fault was from something I'd done, allow cats to knock cradle, maybe I was using bad rechargeables?
Because everything worked fine for the first few weeks, I assumed the fault was mine.
Tomorrow, I call Panasonic. Ten months of patience--I'm sick of this. No doubt they'll force me to go through diagnostics again. Then they'll give me some lame reason that its my fault. It is my fault--I bought a Panasonic.
At the very best, and its unlikely, I'll need to ship this trash back to them, relying on my tiny, pocket-sized corded phone. Thanks, Panasonic.
-----------------------------------
Well, I'm shipping the phone back, packaging it up. I'm an unpaid volunteer for Panasonic, I guess. I must pack it up, include a note describing the problem, go to the post office, and pay to ship it back.

Kinda feels like I'm their quality control guy. It was just cheaper for them this way, they needn't pay for my time, aggravation, or shipping the item back. My time is free for them. A quality control guy at the factory would require a salary, so they let me serve as stand-in, almost a "conscripted" quality control guy.

UPDATE:around the 9th of July, 2010, I mailed the satellite and base back. Cost me over $5. Even if they replace it, and I'm not sure I trust them, I've still lost overall. Our local PO, Roberto Clemente Post Office only kept me waiting 40 minutes in line. How can I win? I'll update if I get or don't get a replacement.

UPDATE: 21 July 2010. No word from Panasonic, no replacement. Its been almost 2 weeks. You gotta figure-its their game. If, or when, their crummy products go bad, a certain percent of customers will have lost their receipt, so they're absolved of responsibility. Will they play as though they never received the phone in the first place? Its beginning to look that way. Panasonic is thoroughly unimpressive.
