1.) sweet - finally a decent 2-line phone

What a PITA trying to find reviews for 2-line landline phones.
Using it for a home office phone.

NICE: Crystal clear. Speakerphone is very good. CallerID is great and allows easy addition to built-in directory. Can use different ringtones for each line. Can add other phone of same type as extensions with intercom capability. Has jack for headset (haven't tried it yet). Has Mute button for those boring teleconference calls.

Had a GE 2-line phone that worked for about a year and developed a loud annoying hum. Piece of junk >:(

Buy this one - it's a no-brainer. :)

2.) A remarkably inexpensive phone system that delivers everything except voice mail.
Reviewed by: Dr. Riverdale, NJ

The system works as advertised. One very useful feature is that if you prefer to call out on Line 2 (say you have unlimited calling on the line), you can set the phone to go to Line 2 by default when you dial out. Unfortunately, when you go to answer an incoming call on Line 1, the phone still will default to Line 2 and you have to manually press Line 1 button to answer the phone. If you set the default to automatic, then the phone will go to the correct line the incoming call is on, but you won't be able to call out on Line 2 by default. This is just the tiniest annoyance on an otherwise very fine and inexpensive system. I don't have the problem reading the LCD display as others reported, but it would be nice to have the display light up.

3.) Great phone with caution about use with wireless headsets
Reviewed by: M. Christenson Little Rock, AR
Rating:
I just started working from home and am on the phone most of the day. I needed a two-line speakerphone that I could use with an advanced wireless headset that I bought from Plantronics (SupraPlus Wireless CS351N with lifter).

I echo the other comments both about how well this phone works (it's a great general phone). It also works very well with my headset with one small exception (see below). I also second the recommendations for a backlit or tilted display and a line-in-use indicator that works whenever the other line is in use and not just with like phones.

My one big frustration - now resolved - with the phone was an apparent incompatibility with my headset. Note that the speakerphone function and the headset function on the TS3282 share the same indicator light and button. Apparently it's easy to confuse the phone about the function that is actually being used. When I first would attempt to hang up the phone using the button on my headset, the lifter replaced the handset but the phone would go into speakerphone mode. I later figured out that the problem was a too-short delay between the message to disconnect from the headset base and the handset being replaced in the cradle. The resolution to this problem, which I discovered by accident, was simply to set the lifter to the hightest setting. Evidently the fraction of a second makes a world of difference.

This review should really be 4-1/2 stars but that's not an option, so...

It's a great two line phone with excellent sound quality. The only area that could be better would be if the LCD was backlit.

I've used this phone for about 6 months and it's been highly reliable. If you are looking for a small office type phone I'd highly reccomend this one.

5.) PanasonicKX-TS3282B Phone - Very Nice

The only complaint I have is the lack of backlit screen. Otherwise it is a really excellent phone for home office use. I need a high quality speaker phone for conference calls and this is the best I have tried. Contrary to one reivew, the phone can store many phone numbers (50+?). The reviewer referenced the three memory buttons on the phone. They hold a number each. You program in the other numbers and access them via menus - relatively easy to add and retrieve. I would recommend this phone to anyone needing a 2 line speakerphone.

Excellent telephone. Our office recently purchased 4 of these high quality telephones. Excellent sound quality. The intercom and the ability to forward calls from each phone is outstanding. A two line telephone with many convenient options, including unique rings for each phone and each line and for the intercom. Superb annuciator system shows what phone is being used. Automatic roll over to the unused line when you are making calls, no need to hunt for the correct line and button. Would buy again. Some people may consider the need of the transformer and power cord (for the intercom) a nuisance.

The Panasonic KX-TS3282B 2-Line Expandable Speakerphone with Data Port is a very nice phone for small businesses. The phone is relatively easy to use and easy to set up. The intercom is the main feature that we were looking for because we did not want to have an expensive system installed. This feature works very well. The only feature that I would change is the display screen. It would be nice if it was adjustable because it is not easy to see when the phone is sitting on a desktop.
Overall, it's a fantastic phone for the price and I would definitely recommend it.

13.) Great 2-line phone
Reviewed by: jfpivec Olympiia WA USA

I ordered this Panasonic KX-TS382B 2-line phone to replace an old 2-line phone that I had purchased from Qwest many years ago. I am very happy with it. The sound quality is terrific, it installed without a hitch, and the features all work as advertised.

I am using it with one landline (Qwest is the phone company) and one MagicJack. You may have seen some of the advertising for MagicJack. It has been heavily advertised on TV over the last few years. My MagicJack is connected to a DSL hi speed internet line through a router. This serves as the 2nd line and is the one I use for almost all of my long distance service.

One of the features of the phone is that you can choose different ringer tones for each line. This is useful for identifying which line is receiving an incoming call. The caller ID display on the phone also identifies the caller.

This phone was a bit more expensive than other 2-line phones available. But I am happy that I purchased it. It is definitely worth the money.

14.) Panasonic 2-line Caller ID Wired Phone

I purchased this instrument to replace an older 2-line phone that failed. The 3828 arrived in mint condition and works great in every respect. It has a very nice feature that allows one to select a number or party while off line and then it dials it on the default line when the receiver is picked up or the speaker button is pressed. It has an easily readable display that shows caller ID and Caller ID/call Waiting info. All told a great telephone and it has very good audio to boot.

15.) Great office phone

We purchased this phone for the features, and it did not disappoint. The phone is well constructed, and the speakerphone is full-duplex so both caller and receiver can talk at the same time. At first, we thought the cord would be too short, but by stretching the cord out (holding one end of cord with one hand while pulling with the cord out with the other hand), it becomes longer than expected. The caller ID screen does not light up, but we didn't like Indigo (looks like wrist watches from the 90s) like so many others that do light up.
This is one phone well worth the price!

Got this phone for my home office. Speakerphone was important to meand ths quality of it on this model is excellent. I like everything about this phone. You will benefit most from this phone if you hook up additional extensions throughout your home or business.

My only cons are:

1 - No backlit display on LCD

2- Only has 3 programmable speed dial numbers.

3- The LINE IN USE indicator only works if another phone of this same model is in use. So if my wife is on the one line with her NON Panasonic KXTS3282 phone, I don't know the phone is in use and will pick it up on accident while she is talking.

4 - Would be nice if the LCD display tilted. Hard to see when it laying flat on your desk. I ended up building a small angled wood stand to prop it up at a 45 degree angle so I could see everything

23.) Great phones, but length of phone lines matters
Reviewed by: P. J. Plauger Concord MA

We replaced an aged Merlin system with these phones, and in general we're quite satisfied. The only limitation we found was that we can't use all eight phones at once in our 13-room, 4-story house. Evidently, the total length of all the phone lines -- probably several hundred feet -- is just too long. With a bit of fiddling, we got seven working solidly, and they make for a terrific phone system that meets all our needs. We expect to use all eight instruments in time, as two or three separate systems, so I can forgive this one problem.

24.) A good phone, but I still have mixed feelings about it...
Reviewed by: Edward T. Wilson Cincinnati, OH USA
Rating:
I have several other models of Panasonic phones at home, so when I needed another, I started with them. The Amazon reviews were positive, so I got this model. I have mixed feelings about it. As a telephone, it is a high-quality device. For my needs (fairly limited), it may not have been the best choice. Here's why: THIS PHONE WOULD BE APPROPRIATE FOR A SMALL OFFICE WHERE THERE'S A LOT OF INTERCOM USE; OR IN A LARGE HOUSE WHERE ALL THE STATIONS HAD THIS SAME MODEL PHONE. The phone is as much an intercom as a telephone, and I don't need an intercom. (The buttons along the right side are intercom buttons--they are not for speed-dialing).

There are a couple of features (or lack of) that some other reviewers have mentioned that make one shake one's head. The LCD display is not back-lit. Have the people at Panasonic ever looked at a cell phone? (On a cell phone, the display lights up, the buttons light up--everything lights up!). On my cell phone, I scroll down vertically to find a name, then horizontally to find the number (cell, home, or work). On this phone, it is necessary to make a separate listing for each (Tom--Cell, Tom--Home, etc.).

I could go on, but I won't, because I don't want to leave the impression that this is a bad phone (it's not); but I wish Panasonic made the same phone without all the intercom stuff, and devoted more of their engineering expertise to further improving some aspects that pertain to receiving (and especially) making a telephone call.

I bought this phone because my existing 2-line phone (AT&T 993) had an annoying hum when a POTS line and VoIP line were simultaneously connected. This phone had no such hum when both lines were simultaneously connected.

Overall, I thought this was a solid phone that worked as expected. After using it for almost a year, though, I found 2 things bothersome for my work environment. First, the LCD did not have a backlight, so it was hard to read at times. Second, the keys felt a little "mushy." I found myself having to redial numbers periodically because I thought I had pressed hard enough, but apparently not. Beyond these 2 issues, I have nothing negative to say about the phone.

This is the 4th phone purchased like this and find the quality to be good. You will need to get a stand for it so that the display is higher in elevation as it may be hard to see lying flat. The speaker mic works well as long as you speak directly at the mic and not more than a few feet away. Haven't tested the many other features such as the intercom or conferencing yet so the rating may be premature. The second phone had a bad handset and the company did replace it after some misinformaton from Panasonic customer support as to where to send the old one to.

The basic problem I had was that the Panasonic headset I ordered at the same time had no mic volume adjustment and many of the people I called reported that my voice was soft. There appears to be no solution for the mic volume problem other than buying an amplifier that costs about the same as the phone!

36.) Missing important features
Reviewed by: Burns
Rating:
I'm sorry that I did not read the other reviews carefully enough. In particular, pay attention to John P Benson's. I could not believe what he said was true, but it is: 1) There is no light that comes on when another phone on the same line is in use. John says it only works with another phone of the same model. I can't confirm that. 2) There are only 3 buttons to program with phone numbers. You see all those buttons on the side? Those are for intercom extensions! (There is a 50 number directory that you can get at by pushing more buttons)

Unmentioned on John's review, but a showstopper for me: There is no detection of phone-company voicemail (stutter dial tone). I probably should have noticed that it was not called out explicitly, but who would guess that a reasonably expensive fancy phone would not have that?

Annoyances: By default it will pick a free line when you call out. But one of my lines is my office with unlimited calling features, while the other is my home where I pay for each call. I don't want to be talking for 2 hours to someone on the other side of the world before realizing that I'm on the wrong line! You can set it to go to a particular line, but I think if you do that, it does not switch to the ringing line when you answer. (I was packing it back up before I had a chance to try, I admit). It also insists on going to speakerphone when you push a line button to choose the line you wish to pick up. Sigh.

And finally, a minor annoyance: Caller ID does not set the time and date unless you have already set it. (Huh? I don't get that one!)

The phone appears to be solidly built. There is a significant instruction book with it. I called their 800 number to confirm that I was really right about these features and they were very helpful (but said I was right). But especially the missing voicemail light is going to make me return it.

37.) Line Indicator Lights Don't Work
Reviewed by: Lone Wolf Granada Hills, CA
Rating:
Overall this seems to be a nice phone. Call quality was good and I didn't have any trouble seeing the display although I agree with another reviewer that if it were angled up more, it would be easier to use. The buttons required a little more effort than other phones I've used making rapid dialing a little more difficult. Maybe in time, I would have gotten used to that. The killer for us was that the line indicator lights didn't light up when someone else was using the line, even from another Panasonic phone (different model). We have phones throught the building (small manufacturing business) and constantly butting in on other calls was unacceptable. To Panasonic's credit, I was able to speak with a service representative in under 2 minutes. Unfortunately, she confirmed the problem so this one will have to go back.

38.) No built-in answering machine/voice mail
Reviewed by: Freier Enterprises Michigan
Rating:
I purchased the Panasonic Phone # KX-TS282B based on the only 2 reviews I could find, which took several hours to find. Trying to find a site where you can find or leave a review for a Panasonic phone is a joke. As one of only 2 other reviewers stated, "It is a PITA!"

Yes, it is a nice looking phone and yes it has lots of features, however, I was disappointed that it did not have an internal answering machine. My inexpensive GE cordless phone for my residence has that and it has always worked great. I can't imagine a business phone that doesn't come with answering phone or voice mail feature.

I have just purchased a franchise, which I will be doing as a home-based business for the first year. I am it. I need a phone that allows me to connect with my customers when I am away from my office and visa versa. If a customer calls me and wants to leave me an order or wants to inquire about prices or products and I am out on a delivery, that customer cannot leave that information and time is wasted playing phone tag trying to reconnect with that person. I certainly can't afford to lose customers before I even get them.

I will take part of the blame, because I shouldn't have assumed that it had that feature.

Also, a little flyer was in the packaging that stated, IMPORTANT! Before you return product to the retailer! Call us FIRST at 1-800-211-7262. Supposedly their hours on Saturday-Sunday are from 9am-7pm EST. Well, I live in the EST time zone and I started calling at 4pm on Saturday and 2 hrs. later I gave up. All I got was a busy signal. Do they only have one phone line?

39.) Review of Panasonic KX-TS3282B 2 line phone
Reviewed by: Livingston S. Francis New York - United States
Rating:
The Panasonic KX-TS3282B was unacceptable to me because it lacked some very basic features that I am surprised the manufacturer missed. The KX-TS328B is a 2 line phone with caller ID capability. However, I was shocked to learn there is no light in the caller ID window so the user can see the incoming number in the window. Therefore, the user is required to use external lighting to view information in the window. In addition, as a desk phone, the instrument lies very flat on a desk top requiring the user to look down on the keyboard when making or answering calls. Having the face of the phone (numbers and caller ID window) on an angle would make it easier to use the phone from a sitting position. It may seem these problems are small inconveniences. However, if one is making and/or answering 20 or 30 calls a day, the this phone presents a problem. There are other problems with the phone. However, these two problems are directly responsible for my returing the product and purchasing a different phone that is more "user friendly". Livingston S. Francis

Problem:
No caller ID information received
Does the LCD screen on the handset show anything?
No
Your telephone is defective and needs to be sent in for service

Since it is on their FAQ I would assume this is a common problem. In trying to exchange my phone they were insistent that I send my phone in first so they could look at it and then refurbish it / exchange it. Since I use this phone for my home office this was problematic for me.

I would not recommend this product. I personally will not by Panasonic again due to the quality of customer support (or lack thereof) that I received.
