1.) Great value for a great product

I have been using my new VTECH phones for about a month now--I wanted to wait at least this long before submitting a review so I could give the product a workout and submit a fair review.

The phones are light weight but well built; the buttons have a great feel and the display is easy to read. I spent about 10 minutes reviewing the nicely organized and easy-to-understand instruction manual before I was well on my way to programming numbers and setting other features. The sound quality has been consistently good and once you've reviewed the manual you'll find the buttons and features to be quite intuitive.

From a practical standpoint, I was looking for a two-station cordless phone that does not have a built-in answering machine as I have voicemail with my phone service. So this phone fit the bill.

There are a couple of features I miss from my old phones I replaced--a belt clip (for trips to the garage when I don't want to miss a call) and a headphone jack. However, given the excellent price point of this product, I have no room to complain (For long conference calls I have been using the speakerphone feature, which also works well). I read some reviews where people complained that this phone does not have distinctive ring tones. If this is a feature you absolutely can't live without, look for a different product--remember, the price is great for what you get.

In case you're wondering, I have had zero interference with my home wireless network, which would have prompted me to immediately return this product.

The bottom line: If you're looking for a good-quality phone at a very attractive price, this is the one.

We purchased these telephones as a replacement for our old VTechs. We had a problem with our phone system and as a result purchased new phones during the diagnosing phase. Our VTechs lasted over 10 years and, as it turns out, were still working well. So we replaced them with VTechs and glad that we stayed with the same manufacturer. The new phones have all the features we expected and they work great with our phone company's set-up. Easy to create your own directory, retrieve numbers, etc. Most of the functions I did without reading the manual. Very user friendly. You will be glad you purchased this phone system.

Small, reliable phones. It's an easy way to add a phone to a room that doesn't have a phone jack. Unlike some phones of this type, two people can talk to the same caller on each extension. You don't have to transfer the call to the other handset unit. The speakerphone works great.

After owning a set of 3 GE phones that were total junk, these phones seem to be perfect for my needs so far. I especially like the voice mail indicator. Another issue I had with my old phones is that you had to transfer a call if you wanted to pick it up on a different phone, something my family never mastered. You can pick up a call on these phones without transferring. They are small and lightweight, the volume is great (another GE issue) - so I am very happy!

I recently switched from an land line to VOIP and needed to get a phone with one base, and multiple headsets. After reading around I knew I wanted the new DECT 6 phones because I use Wifi now, as well as Bluetooth extensively, so I did not want another device competing for the frequency.

My first thoughts on the phone they are smaller than what I am used to, so that will take some adjusting but not going to deduct a star for that. They are also silver, and black, not white and black as they look in the photo. (the expansion handset which I later purchased, also has an actual description of White/Black. Vtech DECT 6.0 White/Black Accessory Handset with Caller ID and Handset Speakerphone (CS6209) - But they are silver.

I LOVE the shared directory. Add one name and number, and all phones share the same list. Very awesome not having to program 2 or more phones. They sounds great, and are plenty loud, both ringer volume, and headset volume. After lots of rock concerts in my youth I need a bit more volume in the earpiece, and these do not disappoint. The lighted everything is great too. The only thing that sorta bugs me is the charge light is always on when it's in the base, even if fully charged. I wouldn't mind so much if maybe it flashed during charge so you know it's actually charging. The ability to transfer calls, as well as simply call another handset in another area of the house would be an awesome feature.

So far after about a week of use I am amazed at the quality for 2 phones for $35.

These Vtech phones are great! No phone jack in upstairs rooms, no problem. Need to contact kids upstairs without yelling or climbing steps (i.e. "DINNERS READY!"), just hit the intercom button. Need both hands while on the phone (i.e. typing on the computer, cooking, feeding baby, etc. etc.), its a cordless speaker phone anywhere you need to be in the house. These phones save MY energy since I do not need to run all over the house relaying messages or such and no need to go where the speaker phone is because it is where I am.

After reading the reviews for these phones, I decided to go ahead and purchase them. I also purchased a VTech CS6209 to add as a third phone. They work great. They are SILVER and black, by the way, not white, which I was glad to see! They look sleek and up-to-date.

I was a bit worried about some of the claims that the phones weren't loud enough when talking; however, I have hearing loss in my right ear, and I haven't had any problems hearing anything. In fact, I have had to turn the volume down, because the people on the other end were too loud! They really do sound good, and I haven't had any of the static problems some other people have talked about.

The phones were easy to hook up; just plug them in, wait until they are charged, and they are ready to go! I like the big clear screen that lights up when someone calls. It makes it easy to see from a distance, who the caller is. The speakerphone is crisp and clear as well.

I like the fact that if you save something on one phone, it is saved on all of the phones. So, if you need to use speed dial or just don't remember a phone number, you can go to the phone nearest to you and the information is there.

I had a different pair of VTech phones before I bought these, and they lasted for 7 years, before the extension had a battery issue (which was common only with that model), so I'm pretty sure these will last me a good long while too.

For $35.00 these babies are a steal! Go for it!

10.) Better than expected!

I read several reviews of this cordless phone system (VTech CS-6219) before I made the purchase and was a little worried about how far away from the base station the remote phone would work. It made me hesitate to purchase a single system for the entire house. I purchased one base station phone and one remote phone, and am quite startled at how well it all works. I have the base station in the basement of my home, and the remote phone on the second floor, and everything works perfectly. Now I need to purchase another one or two remote phones, and will use the single system throughout the house.

Sound quality is fine - I have no complaints whatsoever. I do wish that the handsets had a means to connect a headset, and have been a little perturbed that Amazon seems to think that these phones will work with headsets. They don't! Ignore the emails that Amazon sends you after your purchase! The built-in speaker-phone function is not as good as I am used to in older systems, but it works if you are right next to the handset. The handset-to-handset paging feature is terrific!

One other feature that seems annoying at times is if an incoming call is answered by a telephone set on the same line that is not part of the system, all of the handsets indicate that the call was missed. I am sure this annoyance will go away once I am using only this system in the house.

11.) High performance but simple expandable phone system
Reviewed by: Read Rover FL
Rating:
As we have voicemail included with our phone service, when we were looking for a new phone system we decided to skip those with digital answering devices. The VTech DECT 6.0 system fit the bill and was ideal for our uses. With a simple "base" station and one extension it allows us to control the use of the phone in our 2 story home (3 teenagers - need I say more?) at very reasonable expense. I was surprised the phone were so light and actually weighed less than half of one of our old Panasonic cordless phones.

Out of the box, these were super simple to use. Once plugged in to an active line the base station and second line established connection immediately with no need for me to input registration or serial numbers. As the system is expandable, if we find that we need to replace a handset due to damage or loss (remember those 3 teenagers?) or even add another line it will be a very simple and low-cost endeavor.

In the age of cell phones it can be easy to forget if you're talking on a land line. I was using it out in the yard one day and started walking down the road while having a conversation. I got about 8 houses away before I realized I wasn't on my cell phone - and call clarity was still excellent! I'm impressed with this set and consider it to have been a smart purchase decision for the needs of our family.

The DECT phones work very well with VoIP. The cost is slightly higher than a cordless phone, but considering that your privacy is not compromised using DECT phone, it is worth the extra money. These phones are great! This is why:

They don't die quickly like most other cordless phones on the market today.
They communicate with each other well (deleting numbers, etc. from caller ID on one phone also deletes from other phone).
The sound quality is perfect.
They have more features than most phones in their price range - intercom, speakerphone, etc. - and the features all work great!
Long distance range without picking up interference.
The price is right!

What I don't like:

No headset jack.
No clip to wear instead of carrying.

Overall, for the money, you won't get a better set of phones!

I love these phones! They are light-weight and do not have an obtrusive antenna, so it is easy to carry around in your pocket. The intercom feature between the two handsets is so handy! They also work really far away from the base- I can walk all the way down the block and my phone still works! Another thing that is great is that this phone seems to work more like a cell phone than a traditional cordless phone. When you store names and numbers into your phone book, it actually recognizes who it is when they are calling and will show you the name that you stored in your phone book- instead of just saying Cell Phone xxx-xxx-xxxx. It also shows exactly who called and when they called. On my old phone, If someone called me 5 times and no one else called me, my caller id used to show just one missed call from that number. It didn't tell me that they called every half hour for the last 2.5 hours. The only thing I dislike, is that you can only silence the ringer for the handset that you are using- the other handset will continue to ring. I would prefer that when I silence the ringer, it would silence it on both handsets. But then again, it's not that big of a deal and doesn't affect the use of the phone. I would definitely buy this product again and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for an inexpensive, multiple handset cordless phone system.

Luckily, the phone has a mute function which has come in very handy. So far, the sound quality has been great, and the menu is easy to follow. I read all the reviews before selecting a phone and this was graded the highest, for good reasons. It has pleasant ring tones to choose from, and the volume of the ringtone can be easily turned down, or even off. The volume of the person calling can also be easily adjusted. The description and the reviews talk about ringtone choices and I thought I'd be able to assign specific ringtones to specific callers as I did with my previous cordless phoness, because I enjoyed knowing who was calling by the ringtone. Unfortunately the ringtones cannot be assigned to specific callers. Also the description says that when you change the info. in one phone, the info. in all the phones changes to match- I haven't found this to be the case and/or I haven't yet figured out how to make that so. Still, I like the phone and feel comfortable recommending it.

I use this phone with Ooma (VOIP) and they provide an answering machine so I didn't need a phone with all the extra "bells and whistles" (Wow... I believe I've officially turned into my Grandpa. Did I just say "Bells and Whistles"?!!?) But even without the "extras" this phone has a nice internal phone book, its got speakerphone (which I absolutely require), it comes with 2 phones, a nice caller ID display plus the display is large and appropriately backlit. These are awesome little phones. It has so many features that you think it is a cell phone. The speaker phone is the main reason I got these phones and one phone line runs both because I have a VoIP. Stores your numbers like a cell and is the same size as my cell when it is open.

I have been all outside with it and talked and never did it waver. I just live on a 1/3 acre, but my phone gets signal anywhere one it.

The one draw back is if you are outside alot and want to clip it on your belt you are out of luck. No belt clip.

I highly recommend these phones for anyone who likes the speaker phone on their cell or just needs new home phones.

The VTech CS6219 cordless phone is one of the best value for money in cordless phones. I have used a Vtech cordless phone which lasted close to 5 years. I got this phone as a replacement.

Pros:
1. Price. You get an excellent quality phone for about $30 with 2 units. It can be expanded for more units which I have done.
2. Sound Quality: The sound quality is very good. I use VOIP for my phone and this phone is excellent for that purpose. The sound is extremely clear and loud so you can keep the volume very low and still hear what the other person is saying.
3. Appearance: The screen is a pretty decent size and shows all the usual information you expect such as date, time, caller id information etc. The buttons are a decent size although I wish the redial, mute buttons were slightly bigger for my thick fingers.
4. Weight: This phone with VERY light. Even with the battery, you barely feel like you are holding a phone. It is lighter than my iPhone 3GS.

Cons:
1. No audio jack - so if you expect to be on long conference calls, expect to be stuck with just the speaker phone. The speaker phone is very good but not having the option for head phone jack is a con.
2. The screen picks up oil residues from your face and you have to wipe it down quite frequently.
3. Once you set the your local area code, the caller id trims the area code from whoever is calling if they have the same area code as you do. If your area requires 10 digit dialing even within the same area code like some areas do, you can't just look at the caller id and call. You have to dial the area code + number to dial.

The cons I have listed are not deal breakers for me and I can work around them. Overall, an excellent phone and great value for money.

It does not come with clips for carrying the phones around, but they are small enough to fit in a loose pocket. Actually, they were so affordable, I put one in just about every room, including the garage, so there is not much need to carry one around the house. You can probably get more buttons, whistles and bells from other more expensive phones, but for the price this system is outstanding.

I live in the third floor of an apartment and my wife loves to go to the neighbors house who lives about 200 meters down the road on the first floor. She brings the phone with her just so she can call the house (via intercom) if she needs something and it still works. It's loud and very clear. Buttons aren't placed all weird that when you put it on your face you accidentally hit the off button. The second handset can be placed anywhere and interchanged with both phones. What i really love is the speakerphone. The speakerphone is loud enough where you can just leave it on the table and talk to someone while it's on speakerphone. I bought this set of phones here on Amazon for the price was excellent, and the reviews were for the most part very positive. Now that I have received them and used them for a while, I have to admit that its been a while since I was this satisfied with something new. My old phone that finally took a notion to die was so old it still had one of those big long antennas on it. (The VTechs don't have any external one at all). These VTechs (VT) were also one of the simplest electronic products to set up and become acquainted with. I was able to have them up and running within 10 min and was already checking out the various settings and features on the menu. I only had to look at the instruction manual once, (to figure out how to delete missed calls from showing up on the screen). Everything else from changing ring tones and voukme to programming numbers I was able to figure out with just a flip through here and there of the manual. These phones have an excellent sound quality, a worthwhile volume control, (not just a "high low" like others phones), and pretty much have all the fun and useful goodies that one can expect out of new phones these days. My two favorite features on these phones is the bright light on them that comes on when receiving a call, and that activates when just picking them up. The light allows one to see clearly the built in caller ID without holding it under a light. So many stand alone caller ID units still have not adapted the simple but most useful feature of a light, even in this day of rockets heading to Jupiter. This phones light comes on very brightly when turned on, or when a call is received. I love it. Also, the second unit can be placed in any room that has an outlet. No need for a phone jack to be there or installed. Just carry the unit to another room anywhere, plug it in, and it takes care of being in total cahoots with the first handset. The VTs are very light but appear to be quality built, and truthfully speaking I cannot imagine anyone needing anything more than this pair in your average household. They are very reasonably priced here on Amazon, come with free shipping at the time of this writing and quite simply are one of the best $35 or I have spent in a long time. Highly recommended...

Just got this phone and set it up, so I can't really say yet how it will function as a phone. It looks like it will be fine ...

(I like to wear a headset and slip the handset into a pocket, to be able to talk hands-free.) As far as I can tell (and if anybody knows different, please reply and let me know) you can't do that with this phone system. Since my prior cordless phone, which was ancient and cheap, had such a feature, I figured all cordless phones did.

88.) Good, though very basic, cordless phone set
Reviewed by: Barry Somewhere near Washington DC, United States
Rating:
I've used Vtech phones for quite a while now, dating back to a 900Mhz basic unit that was one of the first cordless phones I purchased for my home. That phone was quite basic, without any phone book or speaker phone features and I'm not even sure it that system even included any sort of 'find handset' paging feature. Somewhere in the house I'd be willing to bet I still have that phone though if memory serves the battery in it had gotten to the point where it would barely hold a charge and by the time I looked at the cost of the replacement battery I quickly determined that it was more cost effective to replace the phone rather than the battery.

The replacement for that phone was a Vtech 'V-Mix' VTech gz2334 2.4 GHz V-Mix Cordless Phone with Caller ID (Yellow and Black). I selected the V-Mix because it offered the ability to choose different ring tones for callers as well as offering caller ID display features (caller ID required for the unique ring tones feature). While that phone was apparently targeted towards teens, it's feature set made it useful for adults as well. Again, I can fairly easily look around the house for one of those phones (I bought a second one over time) and find one that is still (barely, more in a minute) in service and one that I recently retired. I say barely in service because while the phone does work and has had the battery replaced (both of those phones that I had wound up getting a new battery), I've had to retire those phones because they interfere (badly) with the WiFi internet in my home that my family members depend upon. The ringing doesn't do it, but using the phone to talk to a caller does. Almost as quickly as the conversation begins I can hear an exclammation from the other end of the home because the internet connection there has gone down. While I could (and had) minimize the use of the V-mix that I had kept at my desk, it was irritating to my family members and I do the best I can to keep the peace where possible.

Besides those V-mix phones I had gotten a set of phones from a retailer that calls their stores shacks. Those phones, I believe, were made by a company named Uni.. something (and would seem to belong in a den). They were 5.8Ghz phones and they don't seem to interfere with the WiFi in the house. While not offering the more 'hip' ring tones that the V-mix phones did, they also featured unique ring tones and met another requirement of mine: reasonably loud and easy to hear phone conversations as well as offering speaker phone features for the few times I may be stuck on hold with customer service or something like that.

So, with the WiFi issue known and becoming more of an irritant, I started researching on potential replacements for my beloved V-mix phone (and it's mate). With a little research I learned that the DECT 6.0 phones typically operate in the 1.9Ghz range which means they don't interfere with the 2.4Ghz band ranges that WiFi typically uses. With that known, it became a matter of what features I could find in a set of DECT 6.0 phones and just how much I might have to pay for same.

I knew I didn't need nor want voice mail/answering system features as my phone service includes those features. I'd assume that there were ways to ignore such features if I bought a set that included them, but I didn't want to go through any hassle and just wanted phones that work. I should note that it's not all that easy to find an Expandable Cordless phone system that doesn't include an answering system and I wish the manufacturers wouldn't force customers to pay for such features when they aren't needed.

Once past that issue, the list of requirements was fairly small: inexpensive (hey, I try to watch the budget!), adjustable headset volume that makes it easy to hear phone conversations, speakerphone features, and caller id. If the phone featured unique ring tones (assignable to any given phone number that calls in), it would be a bonus, but it wasn't a requirement given the importance of keeping the costs reasonable.

The Vtech DECT 6.0 White/Black Expandable 2-Handset Cordless Phone System with Caller ID and Handset Speakerphone (CS6219-2) system meets those requirements, but as noted in the subject line for this review, these phones are really basic. The set is low cost, and the expansion phones, see: Vtech DECT 6.0 White/Black Accessory Handset with Caller ID and Handset Speakerphone (CS6209), aren't expensive. Yes, they include Caller ID features, yes they have Speakerphone features, but there only a few ring tones available and no way to add any other tones. There's also no way to assign tones to numbers in your phone book so there's no simple audible way to identify callers when the phone is ringing, you must look at the CID (caller id) display on the phone. Something else that the V-mix model featured was an ability to plug in an external headset so that you can use the phone through a headset for added comfort on long calls, and again that feature is missing on the phones in this set.

These phones do have an 'in use' indicator on the base unit and also share directory information between the units which is nice as you need only edit information on one handset to get all handset's updated. In addition there's an intercom feature that can be used between the phones and the requisite 'find handset' paging feature that can be used to help find a misplaced handset (something that happens frequently compliments of my family members).

In the end, this is a good basic cordless phone set. It is relatively inexpensive, and includes the features that most customers would need. The phones aren't flashy (side detour here: these are listed as 'white and black' phones while in reality, they are more 'silver and black' phones) but they work as required. Recommended purchase for those that are looking for a set of usable phones that won't break the bank. On the other hand, if you're looking for more features, Vtech does make other phones that you should consider.

We decided to upgrade the corded kitchen (a two line that is not needed anymore) and portable bedroom (a Sony that has been faithful for more than fifteen years but is old technology and tends to have static despite frequency changing) phones. An office phone was upgraded last year to a Vtech 6111 after going through a Uniden and Motorola in less than three years. Being happy with the Vtech, getting another one was an easy choice. It's sturdy, the display is bright, and the features are very good. My one complaint is that ALL CORDLESS PHONES DO NOT HAVE A SPEED DIAL FUNCTION; it makes no sense, but it's the way it is currently.
There are only two cons to the phone. First, the wall mount sticks out farther than other brands; I also had to lower the outlet because it is a long handset and sits up high so it was too close to the underside of the cabinet. Second, it takes some time getting used to the functions and which buttons to press; it is not as well labeled as the 6111. A minor con is that the handset is not comfortable using it on your shoulder, but the speaker is excellent so you can use it hands free.
Overall, the 6219 is a very good phone and seems to be slightly better in quality than the 6111. You won't go wrong with a Vtech and, like anything purchased, there are always a bad one. Remember, when most reviews are positive, odds are that yours will be too.

Pluses:
1) Good clarity with the regular ear piece and mic.

2) Good buttons, lighting, features.

3) No static or interference with wireless network.

Complaints:
1) Unplugging the main base unit results in loss of the time/date setting on both phones every time.

2) While the phone directory entries do automatically transfer from one unit to the next (and retained after unplugging the base units), there is no way to upload/download contact info with computer management software. Well, with a max of only 50 entries maybe they think it isn't needed.

3) After using these for only a couple weeks, we left both units unplugged for a week while on a trip. Upon returning we had to charge them for a good 36 hours (3 days!) to get them back to maximum capacity.

4) Wall mounting is only available with the main base unit and too awkward as the holder sticks out from the wall too far for my taste.

5) Using the speakerphone either close or far, people seem to have some difficulty catching what we are saying. When initiating a sentence, the speakerphone seems to omit the first syllable. Of course, if you grunt before you say anything, that wouldn't be a problem. lol.

Overall:
For the price of $35 for 2 phones, it seems like a good deal for what you get, though our battery experience will dictate if these last.

Although I am not crazy about the design look, it is pretty simple and has minimal buttons on the handset. The speakerphone feature is very useful especially if you are in the kitchen and busy cooking with both of your hands.

One of the main reasons I chose DECT is because of our Wifi. We now operates all of our PCs (4 in all) through Wifi. This phone do not interfere or interfered with our Wifi signals. DECT is also immune from Bleutooth and baby monitor signals.

It requires only one phone outlet - for the main unit. The extension unit just need a power outlet. You can buy more extension phones if in the future you realize you need more for the other rooms in the house. The phones use a battery pack the size of two "AAAs" (included), which makes the phones pretty light. I would prefer regular "AAAs" so I can switch with pre-charged low discharged batteries that are more superior than most battery packs, but that feature is only available on higher priced cordless DECT phones.

I looked around, and for now, this is one of the most affordable DECT phones on the market I could find.

This year for the holidays my mother, who runs a home office in spite of her technology aversion, requested a new phone. All she asked was that it be cordless & "not a lot of buttons" so I picked this set of Vtech phones (one for each end of the house). I haven't been around to use them much, but she reports that they're her favorite phones so far & that she plans to buy more, presumably to plant strategically in the remaining corners of the house in order to replace the crappy ones she normally picks up at garage sales.

We've only had them for a few months, but this V-Tech phone set seems to do all that we expected. An Extra set for downstairs and garage. Range is fine around our yard and voices are clear and easy to understand. We have phone service through Time Warner Cable, and these are fine with this signal. Caller ID is fine and functional. Yeah, the phones are relatively light weight plastic, but hey, for $39 for two cordless phones, I didn't expect more! They work just fine for what they are designed for, just don't plan to throw them around a lot and have them still work!

Bought this to replace an aging Panasonic phone that was getting to the point where sound was so low we would hang up on people while they were talking. The new phone was a drop-in for the old one - did not need to make any changes to the wall mounts or lines. It functions well with our FIOS phone line, shows Caller-ID and voice mail just fine. One feature we do miss is caller assigned ring tones (like a cell phone) that the older Panasonic offered.

The phone itself is very good.
Good wireless coverage, sound quality is good, even the speakers for hands free, and to engage the speakphone it is easy to use.
Haven't taxed the battery as yet.
However, I can tell when the phone has been used, the voicemail indicator shows after every call.
It was not a problem for a few calls but it is happening more and more often, where it is now annoying. As you have to go into the menu to clear the message. Plus, it is costing me, as our beloved phone company charges you everytime you check for voicemail, and you realise there is actually none.

119.) Well worth the cost
Reviewed by: John Currahee Georgia, USA

This system arrived promptly and in excellent condition. We have been using the handsets for several weeks now.

I found that the line-of-sight range for the handset is about 250 yards, which is useful on our property. That range is better than non-DECT telephones. However it is not nearly as great as my old Sanyo DSS handset. [Too bad that one is no longer available and mine finally died after many years of use.]

I do wish telephone manufacturers would give some estimation of ranges for their cordless phones. Those of us who live on several acres have need of that information.

We have an electronic outgoing phone number blocker on our central telephone system, such that there is a tone and a delay of about a second before dialing can take place. There does not appear to be any way to program that delay into the directory entries. For us, this is a slightly negative feature, since we must disable the blocker before dialing from the handset directory.

The intercom feature is especially helpful when my wife and I are each working in our own individual home offices.

The Find Handset feature has already helped us locate a handset that had mysteriously "disappeared" in a sofa.

For the price, this is an excellent choice for a cordless phone system. It can be expanded to more than 2 handsets.

I bought this phone set and two additional add-on phones. We have a phone in more places than before! I like that you only have to plug the add-on phones into a power outlet - they don't need a phone line. The speaker feature is loud & clear, nice! The only thing - there's no answering machine. I guess I missed that in the description - I was looking for an expandable phone with speaker. Got that but no answering machine. AT&T Call Notes is way to expensive to add to local service ($9 a month). Now I have to get an answering machine. Oh well!

At $35, this review is probably no place for an in-depth discussion of features, etc. And besides, you KNOW someone else has that kinda time on their hands, so it's probably already been done. All I'll say is that this phone works very well, has all the nifty features one expects these days, uses a frequency that doesn't interfere with other electronics and most importantly, is not affected by other electronics. My old phone would hum and buzz constantly when my iPhone was doing whatever little iPhoney things it had to do, which was pretty annoying. So $35 later, I'm good to go. VoilĂ . Enjoy your phone!

Reviewed by: WhasianRockStar Falls Church, VA

Well, let's be honest. The phone is very inexpensive... and you get some of the baggage that comes along with that. Sometimes the signal is crystal clear, however fairly often (enough so that it's very annoying) it picks up other signals. The other signal is so loud that it makes it nearly impossible to hear who you are talking to.

If you're in an urban area or a place with a high population density, it's probably better to go with a phone that broadcasts in a higher frequency spectrum for clearer signals.

I read a lot of reviews of this item and decided to buy it. I liked the phone till my wife pointed out that caller ID doesn't work if you have call waiting.

I'm surprised no one mentioned it that I saw. For us, having caller ID during call waiting is one of the main points for having call waiting.

It's a good phone, but if you need that feature, at least the phone we received didn't have it.

Beware - the sound quality on this phone is pretty bad. A lot of echo and people have told me they can't hear me unless I'm within 2 feet of the base unit. Other than that, it's a basic land line phone. I do like having the second handset, although the sound quality on it is the same unless you're close to the primary base unit.

131.) Ergonomics are pretty bad
Reviewed by: TwinMom
Rating:
The phone sound quality is good, and no interference. So if that's all you want, it's decent. But I should have shopped around more. I use the phone for conference calls and sometimes need mobility. There is no belt clip, no jack for a head set. And the phone is wedge shaped with the larger, heavier (battery) part at the bottom, so if you try to use it on your shoulder, as I have done for years, you have to bend your neck nearly perpendicular to its normal angle. And then have a high risk the phone just squirts out and crashes onto the floor. It does have a speaker phone capability, but it's asynchronous -- meaning many times you speak but if the other party has started speaking prior, your comments don't get picked up. So for quick calls, it's OK, for anything longer there just isn't a good work around.

132.) Intercom Use and Handset Naming is Substandard
Reviewed by: Herbert G. Zeller
Rating:
I bought five handsets to distribute around my three level home. The handsets are automatically numbered 1, 2, 3...and cannot be renamed to identify their location in the house (and where the charging station would be), such as: family room, bedroom, kitchen, study, living room. A specific name is much easier to remember when calling another room/location than associating a handset number with the each location. This feature was available on the inexpensive cordless phones I replaced.

Secondly, when using the intercom function to call from one handset to another it is not possible to CALL ALL the handsets simultaneously. Only one other handset may be called at a time, and only the handset that is called may be used to answer the intercom call. Thus, if you call the handset where no one is nearby to answer, you must call all the other handsets individually until you find the person. In addition, if you hear the handset that is called ring you cannot answer it except with the handset that is ringing. None of the other handsets can respond to the intercom call. This just about eliminates any convenience a multi-station intercom offers.

133.) PHONE LASTS LESS THAN ONE YEAR!
Reviewed by: Deb from Baltimore Maryland, USA

Something is electronically wrong with this phone after less than one year's usage. Without warning, this phone dies and cuts off during usage. It is supposed to beep a warning when the battery is low, but it doesn't always do this. Further, it cuts off after about a minute when the loudspeaker function is used. I've replaced the batteries (at a GREAT expense), but am experiencing the same issues.

I am a low phone user. I may use this phone once a week and not for a long (less than 10 to 20 minutes) duration. If I do use it for a couple of hours, then I have to keep switching back and forth between handsets. I always keep the handsets on the chargers, so I can't explain this problem. Not worth the money.

Lightweight. No clips for the phone. Why have a cordless phone with a speaker if you have to hold it all of the time? I would have thought clips would be standard. Speaker phone lets you hold the phone 6 inches from your ear instead of against your ear. Don't waste your money. The idea of a cordless phone is to be mobile and have use of your hands while on the phone. Having this phone is no better than having a corded phone and one with poor sound at that.

two days after i did all this both you and tiger direct sent me the damn phones. now i have paid for and received two of something when i only wanted one. my attitude is: whatever, i will wait until somebody i know needs a phone and then, voila, i will come through for them.
i love amazon. you must know that. over the years i have ordered a bunch of great products from you folks. this situation upsets me but it won't ruin my day. if i could afford to, i would spend thousands on your website, just on dvds. and just so you know, i have ordered stuff from you through other people too. books, a coffee maker that still rocks my world every morning at 4:30, never had a problem. but tiger direct stinks, and i truly believe you could do better business elsewhere.
