This telephone set is perfect! I researched cordless telephone manufacturers and I came to the conclusion that Vtech phones had the best overall reviews. I was not disappointed.
Clear sound and no battery issues. Remote phones are problem free. I particularly like that telephone numbers and other things entered into any of the telephones are available to all of them. The buttons are easy to use and using the features is simple.
I have optimum digital/cable phone service through Cablevision and I have the primary base phone connected to the modem. The bases of the two secondary phones are plugged into electrical outlets. No problems at all.
I am not using the answering machine system that is a feature of this set. A really great thing for me is that the telephones actually tell me when a voicemail has been left on my digital/cable system.
This set is a great deal! Other cordless telephone systems sell for a lot more.

I've been using VTech expandable cordless phone system for 4 years. Few weeks ago I was forced to look for a rechargable battery replacement in one of my phones (VTech 2660 series). It could no longer hold the charge.

However, as I was looking around for the best deal, instead of replacing the battery I ended up with a new VTech phone system (CS6229-4) purchased directly from VTech. As of this writing Amazon doesn't offer 4 handset unit but because they all work the same regardless of the number of handsets, I wanted to share the experience with mine.

I'm very pleased with this upgrade. Besides good sound quality and ease of setup/use, I really appreciate the feature of Directory entries being shared by all system handsets. "Any additions, deletions or edits made on one handset affect the directory on all handsets." My old system did not support that - inconvenience.

VTech 6229 allows to answer calls by pressing any of the backlit dialing keys (0-9, #, *) besides those two dedicated (unfortunately non-lit) Talk/Flash and Speakerphone.

Handsets have 10 different ring tones to choose from.

3.) Great VTech Phone

This phone has all I need. It saves from caller ID to the memory. It has an easy to see display with a battery indicator much like a cell phone. Multiple ring tones are nice. It is really simple and easy to use.

Clarity of voice is good.

It has NiMH batteries, which take 16 hours to charge, according to the manual. Once charged, they stay charged at least four days off the base. This is nice.

If you are looking for a phone that is easy to use, with plenty of features, but not complicated, get this one.

After a week's experience with these phones a couple observations that haven't been mentioned: 1. I can get about 200' away from the base station, and through two walls, before the signal starts to break up; 2. the speaker phone feature works well; 3. unlike traditional home systems, if an incoming call needs to be picked up on another phone you have to explicitly transfer the call to that handset number - you can't just have someone pickup another phone. The system also uses this mechanism for "intercom" calls within the system. You can have up to 12 handsets on one base station; 4. unlike many phones I've used, accessing the handset features is pretty obvious, but a quick scan of the manual doesn't hurt; 5. The handsets are very light weight yet the controls have a solid positive feel. All in all these phones are an excellent value.

6.) Great sound quality & battery life

I bought these to go along with our Xlink Bluetooth gateway. The phones are really great & have excellent sound quality. The speakerphone function is top notch and sound quality is excellent on the sound and mic. I haven't used a cordless phone in a long while, and I must admit it was really neat to see that if you program a phone number into 1 phone, it shows up on all 3. The phones themselves are very light, but a caution is that their design doesn't let you hold it between your head and shoulder easily. They feel cheaply made, but I think that is because they are so darn light. Don't assume they're cheap. I've dropped them several times and had no problems. The standby time is really long. We left ours off a charger for +2 days and hadn't lost a battery bar.

I'm very happy with the product & would recommend it to anyone.

Our old AT&T portable phone bit the dust, and I wanted something with more power and portability. Bought these, and am amazed on the simplicity of the system. Not a big electric whiz, but these were very simple to set up and operate. Love the fact you program one phone with the directory, and all the other phones have the numbers on them. Very nice. Good quality sound, nice features. Now, we have a portable phone in the bedroom, living room and computer room. No more having to run from one room to another getting the phone. Would buy them again in a heartbeat.

8.) A state-of-the-arts telephone
Reviewed by: NY Walker New York

The last time I purchased a home telephone was approximately 8 years ago. Since everyone is using a cell phone, it was hard to find anyone who had recently purchased a home telephone. I had to do research. The Vtech DECT 6.0 telephone set is a state-of-the-arts telephone. It came at a great price. It is sleek and easy to dial. The sound is clear and crisp. Since there are three telephones, I don't have to get up to answer the telephone because I have one in the key rooms -- livingroom, kitchen and bedroom. The answering mechanism allows you to add a personal greeting or it will accommodate the answering system from your home telephone carrier. This is a great buy if you're looking to upgrade your 90's telephone at home.

9.) Best Phones We've Ever Owned

We got the 3 phone set so that when we had one unit low on battery we'd be able to switch over to another phone. The battery life on each of these phones is easily three times the life of the single old Uniden cordless we had.

What I really like about this phone is the backlit caller id screen, as well as backlit numbers which make it easy to read and dial with. The handset stores numbers previously dialed and allows an easy two button dial is a great feature.

The caller ID works with the magic jack system while the Uniden phone did not, each handset has a speaker phone built into it which is of surprisingly great sound quality and clarity.

The only thing I would change is to add a rubber grip to the back of the phone rather than the smooth plastic. The phones are also pretty slim which is a plus for most folks but I have big hands, though it is plenty comfortable for the amount of talking I do on the phone.

Bottomline: These are the best 3 phones our family has ever owned and I'd recommend this product to anybody!

I've had this phone system for close to a month. It's great to have the additional wireless handsets since my older house has only one phone jack. Now there are phones in the kitchen and the master bedroom and all the handsets share info..such a convenience. The readouts on the handsets are easy to read, too. The answering device is simple to use.

The only downside is that the battery covers pop off if the handset gets dropped in the floor. It would be nice if the covers were more sturdy.

One tip: set the ringer volume at the base. Setting volume on the handset doesn't seem to do the trick...and the preset volume is LOUD, especially with three handsets.

You can read the product description to learn of all the features of the multi-handset phone system and there are many. 17.) "A Great Phone Set...That Keeps Communication Going!"
Reviewed by: first words...God's breath USA
Rating:

In the midst of a Sunday afternoon, 3 of 4 phone handsets recorded a message stating that the battery was "dead"; looking at the base, I saw that the base phone was the only useable handset for calling out, and receiving calls. Realizing that it would take possibly two weeks to get replacements from Amazon's website, Target was the choice for immediate assistance.

Weighing the cost of 4 new battery replacements being anywhere from $44 to $48, the best choice was to purchase a new set of phones with 3-handsets; the price was fair, and it was like starting out brand new. Take a look at Amazon's price if you have the luxury of time waiting for a replacement, other wise, follow my lead.

The three handsets needed to be charged up overnight for 16 hours; don't accept less. You want fully charged phones that service your needs. There's a recorded message on the base, and there is little or no additional work to do. As the calls come, and if you are "elsewhere", the caller receives the greeting and they can then leave a message. When you return to "phone central" you will notice the button flashing with the number of messages left for you. When you check your messages, you can play, delete, or save whatever messages you choose.

My favorite feature is the Caller ID button, which allows me to see the exact date and time of the call, as well as the phone number, and the name of the person or firm; in some instances, anonymous and pesky callers are clever to have no ID. The CID lists dozens of calls received. Either way, you can promptly return any missed calls, and keep the lines of communication wide open. Each handset allows you to access the Caller ID information.

Though I would have preferred more handsets, I found out that you could buy accessory single phone handsets to add on to this set. This phone can hold as many as 12 handsets; so, you don't have to look very far for a phone when it rings. Now, what size house would need 12 handsets?

I bought this particular phone set because I already own a VTech phone and have been very pleased with it. This set meets all my expectations...and provides a bit more actually. The range is excellent, with very little interference even when you reach the outermost point of the range. The wireless handsets work great and the answering machine has a crystal clear sound quality that I have not found in other digital answering machines. The ringtone selections leave a bit to be desired, but the volume is loud enough to be heard outside which is what I needed. The phone also has lots of other features that are useful. Overall, this is a great phone set for the price!

I bought this system for my parents. Their home phone was going out and they would each be in one part of their home and not answer the phone when we called because they didn't want to get up and find the receiver. Also the sound was going out so when you talked to them, they often couldn't hear what you were saying. With this system, they have a receiver in each of the rooms that they spend the most time in and it is expandable so if they needed more receivers, they could get more. There is also an outdoor receiver option. My dad says that it has all the features that he wants in a phone (i.e answering machine system, caller id, call waiting etc) and he loves it.

I've had the phone for about 6 months and so far everything has worked well. The sound is clear. The range is good (i've tested it to ~100' with no problems). I've never had any static/interference from other devices. The battery has never died or even warned me that it was low - although, to be fair, we keep our handsets on the chargers. I have voice-mail and do not use the answering machine portion of the device.

My only complaint to date is the process of switching between standard phone and speaker phone; there is a button for each mode (ie. Speaker / Talk (standard)). If you are using the speaker and you want to switch to the standard phone, you must push the speaker phone button. My intuition is always to push the Talk button, but doing so, is the equivalent of pushing the Flash button used to check call-waiting or make a three-way call. This puts the existing caller on hold and causes me to scramble to get them back.

Pros: Automatically transmits phone directory to other system phones. Only requires one telephone line connection for all phones. Very handy having extra handsets around the house. Caller ID appears on each handset from an incoming call.

Cons: Can't rest handset on your shoulder while on hold because the handset is too small. Doesn't auto answer when you lift handset from base.

Comment: The vtech transformer I received for the answering base can only be very slightly heard if I place my ear directly on the little power brick so this is a non issue for me. I wish that the phone and those like it had a phone number reject memory for spam calls. I don't see the purpose of the voicemail function since the phone already has an answering machine.

Recommendation: Buy.

Pros:
- Comes with 3 handsets. I spent a lot more money for only 2 handsets with my last phone. Plus, you can expand up to 12 on the cheap with this model.
- All the phones share one phone number directory! For other phones, you have to manually enter it in one phone, then copy the number to all the other phones. What a pain! This one is worry free.
- DECT 6.0 technology. It's on a different frequency than wi-fi, so I'm happy about that. Haven't had any dropouts or interference since we got this phone.
- You can access and dial from the directory while on a call. This is great if you want to dial using Google Voice.
- Shows the current date and time which is really convenient. What's pretty novel is that it syncs the date and time when you have Caller ID and someone calls. Pretty good idea.

Cons:
- You can't name the handsets on these phones. Not a big deal, but you have to memorize that handset 1 is in the living room, handset 2 is in the kitchen, etc. if you want to select the right phone for the intercom.
- The talk and flash functions are on the same button. This is annoying for me when I use the speakerphone and then press the green talk/flash button to turn off the speaker, and then accidentally hang up. Luckily, I can switch back right away without losing the person, but I wish the functions were separate.

Overall, it is a great phone system, especially for the price. You really can't go wrong with this system.

What does upset me is the lack of a headset jack.

Who makes a phone without a headset jack (or some other hands-free solution) anymore? I work at home and spend a lot of time on the phone. This is going to be a real problem, but after spending nearly $60 already, I can't afford to find another replacement just yet.
